MIME Support OUI supports two methods of encoding: UUEncoding and Base64 encoding. We recommend that you use UUEncoding as more programs support it. However, Base64 is considered a somewhat superior method, so if you cannot use UUEncoding, or you know that the recipient of the message has Base64 (MIME) support, use Base64 instead. We strongly discourage using Base64 encoding for Usenet posts at this time. In the future, it is likely that more newsreaders will have MIME and Base64 capabilities, but at the time of this writing, that is not the case.
